There are some tasty ciders coming out of Roxbury Vermont these days! If you haven’t had a chance to try Tin Hat Cider, drop by the Beverage Warehouse on Friday May 4 from 3:30 – 6:30 for a sample of Teddy Weber’s traditional farmhouse ciders.
Cidermaker Teddy uses applied organic and permaculture techniques on his 25-acre heritage orchard, respecting the land and cultivating good soil and biodiversity. His goal is to find ways to work with nature, not oppress it, and focus on making cider in the orchard more than in the cellar.
Teddy himself will be on hand to answer your questions about cider, and to share these delicious bottles:

Stowe Cider | Pippin Ain’t Easy | Pippin Cider | $8.99/500ml | 6.7% ABV | Pippin Ain’t Easy is a unique and diverse cider that pays homage to two varieties of pippin apples and finished with the wonderful Ahmead’s Kernel. This is a serious cider for not so serious people.
”Every silver lining’s got a touch of…grape?” Well, those might not be the exact Grateful Dead lyrics, but they will give you a hint as to what our newest ciders are all about! When our friends over at Zenbarn were looking for a speciality keg to feature at their Wednesday night music series with Zach Nugent’s Acoustic Dead Duo an idea was sparked and our newest ciders, A Touch of Grape, (inspired by the song Touch of Grey) were born.
Touch of Grape is a two-part, limited release cider made in collaboration with Lincoln Peak Vineyard in Middlebury, Vt. They provided the grape pomace- what is left after pressing the fruit for wine- and we co-fermented and aged the grapes with our locally sourced cider. Not only do we love partnering with great, local growers but at Stowe Cider we love being able to utilize ingredients that add a ton of flavor and complexity and would otherwise go to waste (see The Gin Project). The red version features Marquette grapes and the white contains La Crescent. Using the residual sugars from the grapes during co-fermentation gives the cider a nice boost to 7.5% abv and adds unique wine characteristics.

Companion
Apple trees and tart cherry trees make good companions in the orchard. They bloom and harvest at different times throughout the growing season, which is good for the land and good for the farmer. We figured they might make nice companions in a fermented cider as well. It turned out to be true, which is good for us, and good for you. Be a Good Companion and enjoy this very limited sour cherry cider.

Stan Up
We gave Stan the task of making us the finest blend of cider possible from the fruit at his orchard. Made with heirloom blends, this year we did something a little different with Stan Up and used only 2015 apples giving this year’s cider a vintage. We aged the cider in our steel tanks for 10 months starting last November, bottled it in late August and then let it bottle condition for another 2 months. And Voila! A year later we present Stan Up – 2015 Crop.

Introducing Elsewhere
Citizen Cider meets Shelburne Museum:
A collaboration of history and apples.
That’s right, we collab. The good folks at Shelburne Museum contacted us with an idea. “We have feral apple trees on the museum grounds, you guys make cider with apples, let’s join forces.” So, that’s what we did.
Turns out these apple trees are much more special than we even anticipated. Electra Havemeyer Webb, the founder of Shelburne Museum and also an ambitious and well-known collector of Americana, was responsible for the collection of heritage apple trees that reside on the museum grounds.
Hall Home Ice Cider Tasting + Jalapeno Hard Cider Release – Saturday, March 11th, 10a-12p.
Pucker up for a scrumptious Hall Home Ice Cider tasting + Jalapeno Hard Cider release! We are most delighted to host this special event for our Vermont friends from Isle La Motte.
We make the most distinctive Ice Cider and Hard Cider in the world. The Ice Ciders are bottled in 187 and 375 ml sizes and the Hard Cider in 22 oz and mini Growlers. We also have a nice Apple Wine bottled in 750ml. Enjoyed for everything from wedding favors & toasts to sitting on your front porch watching a sunset. The Cidery is located in the scenic Hall’s Orchard of Isle La Motte. The property has been in the family since the late 1700’s. Generations of Halls have been cultivating apples and pears since the orchard was started. From 1828 until 2005 when the matriarch of the family, Mina Hall passed away the family has lived in the farm house. The historic stone house was built by the Scottish stone mason, James Ritchie. The stone in the house was quarried on the island and ancient coral reef fossils can be found in them.
