From http://www.mainebeercompany.com:

Lunch
Our “East Coast” version of a West Coast-style IPA.  Intense hop flavors and aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and pine dominate.  A subtle malt sweetness brings the beer into balance.
Lunch is a special whale that has been spotted off the Maine coast since 1982. She has what looks like a bite taken out of her fin which adds to her unique character. We dedicate this beer to her determination and persistence.

Vitals:

  • Color – Orange
  • ABV – 7.0%
  • O.G. – 1.059
  • Malt – American 2-Row, CaraPils, Caramel 40L, Munich 10L, Red Wheat
  • Hops – Warrior, Amarillo, Centennial, Simcoe

From http://smalltownbrewery.com:
My great-great-grandfather from the 1600s was the captain of a ship in England. He was also a bit of a gambler. As legend has it, he won a brewery during a high-stakes card game, which led him to start crafting his own beers. He began brewing beer on the ships he sailed. This allowed him to travel further than other vessels because beer stayed fresh during long journeys. The story goes that his beer was even consumed on a fleet of ships he commanded that transported some of the earliest settlers to America.
Growing up, I had never heard the complete story about my great-great-grandfather until I expressed an interest in making my own beer. When I told my mom that I planned to open a brewery, she finally revealed my family’s beer making history and why brewing was “in my blood.” Using some of my great-great-grandfather’s recipes as inspiration, I founded Small Town Brewery. At Small Town, our goal is to honor my family’s beer making tradition by creating specialty beers with unique and flavorful ingredients.

Alchemist Heady Topper Schedule Change

Thirsty?  Check this out!

In an effort to give both locals and beer pilgrimage folk the best and most consistent opportunity to purchase one of the more sought after brews in the world… we’re releasing the Alchemist Heady Topper four days instead of three!

We’re devious over here and always shaking things up in the craft beer world at the Beverage Warehouse and so here is our current Heady Topper schedule:

~  Tues 10a
~  Weds 8p
~  Thurs 10a
~  Sat 10a

As usual, we sell it by the case (you don’t have to buy a case!) and we make sure everyone who is here gets the chance to buy Heady Topper (we don’t have 100+ cases for each release!) which means some days 37 people get a case, and other days, 15 people get to buy a case.  We base how many people can buy a case on how many people are in line.

If you’re in the front of the line, you get to buy more than people in the back of the line but everyone gets to buy some frothy, fresh, VT canned IPA – we share the wealth!

Everyday is a new, delicious adventure at the Bevie so we cannot predict how many people will get a case of Heady Topper but we can assure you that at every release, we count how many people are in line and if you’re here when we release it, you’re golden!

For FAQ’s, info, and crazy good VT Beer updates, be sure to check out our beer hit list page and official Heady Topper section.
