This beer is a tribute to our chief security officer, belly rub lover, and all around food connoisseur, Mr. Wellington Nelson.
He has been named after two of our favorite cities in New Zealand where the Nelson Sauvin hop featured in this beer was grown.
It’s best consumed with a round Chuckit in the fields of Vermont.

Barbara inherited the Travelers Lodge and Pub from her Uncle Van Wynridge.
But where he had been an affable (albeit soulless) host, his niece was ill tempered, vile mouthed, and had a peculiar penchant for rusty shovels.
The locals called her Not Nice Barb behind her back
The occasional traveler mistakenly mentioned the nickname in her company.
Over the years, more than a few guests of Barb’s Lodge went missing.

Cabin Bier– Mixed culture ale fermented and aged in a single chardonnay barrel before bottling and further aged 4 months now. This is our favorite barrel in our fermentation space and wanted to offer up its first fill for our first release. 5.8% ABV | 375ml
Lodestar– Blended mixed culture ale fermented in a white wine puncheon and red wine barrels. 5.8% ABV | 750ml

Once a year (or less), we receive a small amount of this captivating barrel-aged sour brown quadrupel from the wizards of sour beer down in Brattleboro, Vermont. Beginning its life as a strong dark ale, this massive beer is mellowed by spending 12 months in wine barrels. At 14.5% ABV, Rowdy Monk is no crushable sour, and that’s perfect. It’s the ideal match for cooler late summer evenings, camping trips, and quiet contemplation (though we can’t promise things won’t get rowdy!!)
Rowdy Monk pours a deep amber brown, with a very light coffee-colored head that dissipates quickly. Notes of cocoa, woodsmoke, dark fruit and caramelized oranges tingle your nose. On the palate, the beer has assertive sourness that melds with flavors of maple toffee, dates and raspberries. It has a fine, dry mouthfeel and long finish, with lingering tartness.
