From www.fab.beer:

TREMENDOUS:

New England Double IPA (9%), brimming with passionfruit, citrus & pineapple flavors of Mosaic hops. Biotransformed by vigorous fermentation with our East Coast // New England IPA yeasts. TREMENDOUS, FAB’s first 2xIPA explores many dimensions of hop additions. A blend of hops including juicy-tropical Mosaic, and grapefruit-citrusy Citra, are first added at 155F in the mash for early integration of flavorful trichomes and boosted in multiple rounds of whirlpool- and dry-hopping for aroma capture and flavor amplification. Adding hops during the height of fermentation and carefully controlling temperatures, we maximize hop aroma and gather natural CO2 in steel for flavorful, champagne-like effervescence, balanced flavor, and delicate sweetness.

PILSNER 4 PEACE:

American-style Pilsner (5%), with subtle layers of Mandarina Bavaria and Citra hops, created in partnership between brewers and international, activist artists. In-keeping with the American Pilsner style, P4P’s assertive hoppiness is infused in multiple stages of mash- and biotransformational, “High Krausen” dry-hopping. Clean and easy-drinking, with some sweetness and counter-balancing bitterness, the PILSNER 4 PEACE is envisioned as an international open-source collaboration beer. Participating breweries are invited to collaborate on this open recipe, and all they have to do is pay local artists a fair price to contribute to our global art series.

Pivo Pils | Firestone Walker

Pivo Hoppy Pilsner –
Pivo Hoppy Pils is a classically rendered pilsner with a West Coast dry-‐hopping twist, showcasing stylistic influences from Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic. Lighter beer styles like pilsner have been hijacked by industrial lager beer in the United States, and it’s time for craft brewers to take it back. Pivo Hoppy Pils offers impeccable balance with floral aromatics, spicy herbal nuances, and bergamot zest and lemongrass notes from dry hopping with German Saphir hops.

Otter Creek, Jack’s Abby Hop on The Bus in New Collaboration
Vermont and Massachusetts brewers team up to brew Joint Custody

Otter Creek Brewing and Jack’s Abby Brewing are lacing up their lederhosen and joining forces on a collaboration creation of the highest kind.

Inspired by the German brewing background of both brewmasters, Mike Gerhart and Jack Hendler, from Otter Creek and Jack’s Abby, respectively, are bringing their teams together to brew Joint Custody, a nouveau Pilsner featuring Huell Melon and Mandarina Bavaria hops.

A guardian of the old- and new-school, Joint Custody fuses a traditional Bohemian build with the juicy notes of Germany’s newest hop breeds. The result is a nouveau Pilsner that is packed tight with the big hop flavors that you have come to expect from both parties.

In the spirit of collaboration, this brew pulls inspiration from both highly acclaimed breweries. From the innovative, award-winning lager offerings of Jack’s Abby’s, to the style-bending hoppiness of Otter Creek’s most recent creations, Joint Custody showcases the camaraderie and creativity of New England’s craft brewing scene.

“They’re [Jack’s Abby] setting the craft world on fire right now with their lagers,” said Mike Gerhart, brewmaster of Otter Creek Brewing. “We’re stoked to throw some fuel on that fire with this collaboration.”

For Jack’s Abby, the admiration is mutual.

“As far as innovation goes, Otter Creek has put out some great beers of late,” said Jack Hendler, co-owner and brewmaster of Jack’s Abby Brewing.

“Mike and his crew have showed that they can dose their beers [with hops] with the best of them,” he added.

Joint Custody will debut at the Vermont Brewers Festival on the weekend of July 17-18, and will be available on draught and in six-packs of 12oz. cans. This brew will see distribution throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont with limited quantities sent to Connecticut, upstate New York, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, seacoast New Hampshire and Portland, Maine.

     About Otter Creek Brewing

Otter Creek has been hitting, hopping and dosing brews with creativity since 1991. Under the direction of brewmaster Mike Gerhart, we are undergoing a renaissance of rad, a rebirth of cool — throwing a bit of kind into the kettle whenever possible. Straight from our stash to your glass, our hop-soaked ales and lagers are available throughout New England and the mid-Atlantic states.

     About Jack’s Abby Brewing

Jack’s Abby Brewing is a family-owned craft brewery in Framingham, MA founded by three brothers, Jack, Eric, and Sam Hendler. They are known for focusing entirely on craft lagers, using traditional German brewing techniques to create new, boundary-pushing lagers. Jack’s Abby Brewing’s flagship lager, Hoponius Union, is an India Pale Lager. This new style combines cold fermentation and extended lagering times with a bold west coast hop profile to create a huge tropical fruit and citrusy hop aroma with a dry, crisp finish.
