Details on VT IPA from www.longtrail.com:

Introducing our take on the hazy, hoppy style coming from the Green Mountains! Our brewers have been developing this recipe for the past year; playing around with yeast strains and hop combinations in search of a smooth, juicy offering that pleases palates.

With VT IPA they found the perfect balance of tropical fruit and citrus flavors through a heavy dry-hopping of Citra and Amarillo hops, which give distinct tangerine, mango, pineapple and grapefruit character.

The juicy hop profile is complemented by the grist, which features a heavy hand of flaked oats and aromatic Munich malt to deliver a smooth mouthfeel and hazy appearance. What sets this beer apart -aside from the soft bitterness – is the introduction of a new yeast strain that provides the beer with more neutral notes and juicy esters that enhance the hops.

Cheers to Change

What if drinking wine made the world a better place?

Proud Pour just gave your Happy Hour a major upgrade.

We pair wines with solutions to local environmental problems. Our Mendocino County Sauvignon Blanc restores 100 wild oysters per bottle, and our Oregon Pinot Noir plants 90 sq ft of bee habitat per bottle. Every time you enjoy Proud Pour wine, you get to sit back, relax, and know you are making a difference.

Pinot Noir

This beautifully balanced 2015 Oregon Pinot Noir is helping our 3,600 native bee species across the U.S. Every bottle replants bee habitat and wildflowers on local farms, which benefits both native bees and honeybees, the local ecosystem, and farmers! Enjoy this sustainably-grown and vegan wine, knowing you’re nourishing these little pollinators, who in turn nourish plants all around us.
Tasting Notes

Proud Pour’s Pinot Noir is a balanced wine with supple tannins, earthy tones, and rich notes of red plum, rhubarb, and vanilla.

This wine is ready to drink now and should drink well through the end of 2019.
Food Pairing

The wine is nicely-balanced and so pairs well with many foods. Try it with a roast chicken or pork chop!

Sauvignon Blanc

Every bottle of our Mendocino County Sauvignon Blanc restores 100 oysters back to the wild! Oyster reefs are a critical ecosystem and also help clean our oceans. A single oyster filters about 30 gallons of water daily. And by the way, eating oysters is good for the planet because you’re almost always eating farmed oysters, which are completely sustainable. Enjoy this sustainably-grown wine’s crisp notes of citrus, well-balanced acidity, and clean finish, knowing you’re making our oceans healthier.
Tasting Notes

Proud Pour’s Sauvignon Blanc is a bright, refreshing wine with a rich bouquet of flavors. Hints of tropical fruit transition onto the palate, followed by layers of citrus and melon. Vibrant acids finish smoothly, accompanied by a pleasant minerality. This wine’s consistent profile and balanced finish are sure to please any oyster-lover.

This wine is ready to drink now and should drink well through the end of 2019.
Food Pairing

Enjoy this wine with your locally-farmed oysters, clams, mussels, sea scallops, or periwinkles! Or simply on its own for a relaxing evening!

Wunderkammer Volume 8 | Traditional Headdress | Brewer Tasting, Release, & Bottle Personalization | SAT 12/16 10a-12p

We are delighted to announce the release of Wunderkammer Volume 8 | Traditional Headdress + Tasting & Brewer Bottle Signing Event Saturday, December 16th, from 10a-12p!

Personalized bottles by local Vermont makers are a great gift, or are a wonderful thing to personally enjoy.

Pop over, meet Vasili, sample some of his latest fine brew, and pick up a bottle or two!

From Brewer Vasili:

Volume eight, traditional headdress, is being released and I wanted to share some of my thoughts and impressions about it in hopes that you can learn from it some of what my intention was and share with our customers a bit about the beer.

This beer uses Golden Rod, which is an extremely common plant around here. It grows in every pasture. Most typically, it grows a single stalk about 3 feet tall, with thin, spear-like leaves radiating all up and down the stalk. The top is crowned with bright, almost fluffy yellow flowers. You have to look really close to see pedals. It’s another plant that can be used for tea and lends an anise like character. I harvested it in my backyard mostly, some from around the brewery. Spelt and honey are two other components in the beer. There is also hops at boil. As usual, this beer is fermented in an oak barrel with mixed culture.

pale straw color with a fluffy bone white head

beautiful lemon/lime, anise, heady esters, Belgian type spice/fruit mix

candied lemon peel and more anise up front, resolves to an subtle and soft dough character

a light tart spelt beer with a balance of citrus and bright spice.

The label:
so while I was preparing the Goldenrod for this beer, I found this strange wad of plastic drinking straws and masking tape that one of my children had used for a school project. I had no clue what it was suppose to be. As I was stripping the leaves and flowers off of the stalks, I started putting the stripped stalks into the the straws. As I was getting through the stack of Goldenrod, it started to look like a type of headdress. Atlas, having known and worked with Bread and Puppet Theater for many years, which has a fair share of nature deity worship, and seen many a wreath made of plants, my mind naturally went there. This picture I painted with watercolors is a more or less accurate illustration of the stripped Goldenrod stalks sticking out or this drinking straw sculpture, which I learned was an attempt at a log cabin.

Groennfell Meadery | Havoc Mead | Tasting | FRI Nov. 10th 5-7p

Delicious days abound at the Bevie!

Pop over Friday, November 10th from 5-7p and meet the local, magical-mead-makers… Groennfell Meadery & Havoc Mead!

~ Mead Menu ~

Valkyrie’s Choice – Classic Craft Mead | Groennfell Meadery | 8.5% ABV – Gluten Free

This mead may be pretty, but don’t be fooled: like its namesake, it is neither sweet nor weak. Valkyrie’s Choice pours pale gold and bubbly. Serve at cellar temperature to fully enjoy the superb flavor and aroma of wildflower honey.

Nordic Farmhouse Mead – Scandinavian Saison-Style Mead Brewed with Cranberries | Groennfell Meadery | 5.7% ABV – Gluten Free

Nordic Farmhouse Mead is inspired by The Meadmaker’s travels throughout Scandinavia where he discovered traditional lingonberry meads fermented with wild yeast, brewed in homes throughout Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, just as it has been since the Viking Era.

Our take on this ancient beverage is an incredible fusion of old-world brewing techniques, Scandinavian farmhouse yeast, and American ingredients.

Autumn Spice – Craft Mead Brewed with Traditional Havest Spices and Chamomile Tea | Groenfell Meadery | 5.7% ABV – Gluten Free

Autumn Spice is based on Nana’s Hungarian Apple Cake, with a perfect balance of chamomile tea, nutmeg, anise, and cinnamon in a crisp, clean mead.

Whose Nana? The Meadmaker’s Nana! And she was a Hungarian-trained chef. So there.

This is the perfect pint for cool Autumn days and the first flakes of the coming Winter.

Psychopomp – Sour Cherry Mead | Havoc Mead | 6.9% ABV – Gluten Free

Psychopomp is a sour cherry mead based on a traditional style of mead known as “Viking’s Blood.” Tart cherry blends smoothly with a dry honey body for a balanced, flavorful drinking experience.

Bitter Bee / Hop Swarm – Hopped Mead | Havoc Mead | 6.9% ABV – Gluten Free

Formerly known as Bitter Bee, Hop Swarm is a perfect combination of wildflower honey and seven different hops to create a balanced, crushable mead.

Unlike most beverages, the hops in this mead are never boiled, providing the complex taste of dry-hopping with none of the bitterness.

From Stone Corral /  stonecorral.com

  • High Noon Kolsch – Malty with a kiss of noble hops and reasonable strength make this a balanced and delicious choice for any occasion. This is a great session beer and with the lower alcohol content you can enjoy a few.
  • Palomino Pale Ale – Amber Ale dry hopped with Amarillo, Sterling and Willamette. Layers of Pilsner, Vienna and wheat malts balance out the assertive hop aromas.
Trailblazer Our amber lager – This brew won Silver at GIBF last fall.
  • Black Beer– 2014 Gold Medal at the Great International Beer & Cider Festival. A balanced, velvety, German inspired black lager / porter cross. Delicious ice cold, but the malt really stands out at warmer temperatures. Clean layers of dark malt, mocha, caramel and noble hops.

  • Stampede double IPA – Meridian, Sterling and Nugget hops showcased against a robust blend of 6 malts. Notes of stone fruit, citrus, honey and resin with a big malt background and assertive hop bitterness. 8.8% ABV
  • Wild Red – Our approachable interpretation of sour ale. Aromas of pear, pie cherry, and graham cracker, slightly tart on the palate with a delightful funk and dry finish. 6% ABV
  • XX Chocolate Maple Porter– Dark, rich, delicious, yet not too heavy. Made with Taft Farm maple and fair-trade Guatemalan cacao nibs from our friends at Blue Bandana Chocolate Maker.
  • Big Belgian Draft – this Belgian-style dark strong ale won gold at GIBF last fall. Flavors of fresh malt and stone fruit mix with just a hint of spiciness from the special yeast strain (no spices added) and a smooth finish that leaves you wanting another sip…
  • Scotch Ale – A strong ale, malty, full bodied with a hint of smokiness. The big brother to Stone Corral Latigo. Pairs nicely with roasted or grilled meats, wild game, grilled smoked salmon, aged cheeses, French onion soup and deli sandwiches. This ale weighs in at 7.25% ABV.
